![]() ![]() The initial contract proposal in 1941 called for a few major conditions: intercontinental flight, a maximum service ceiling well out of range of traditional flak guns that were in service within Germany (save for the rare 12.8mm Flak 40 which was rarely deployed), a combat radius of 6,400km, and a 4,500kg bomb load. ![]() The Peacemaker was, as its name suggests, a heavy intercontinental bomber constructed for the USAF as a means of keeping peace during the Cold War - had Warsaw Pact forces gone on the offensive, the B-36 was equipped with a multitude of weapons (39,000kg of conventional bombs) and a range of 3,465 nautical miles, capable of striking targets deep within Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union. As this article does not already exist, I am making a suggestion for the Convair B-36J Peacemaker. ![]()
